Viewing documents in IntelliConnect

There are different ways you can view documents based on the fact that there are different ways you can "find" documents. You can view a document after browsing, view a document after performing a search, or view a document that you have previously added to the Document Tray or a Research Folder.

Viewing a document after browsing

You browse your product content directly from the Browse menu, which is an organized list of all of the content to which you subscribe. The Browse menu's location, and the way in which the content it contains is presented, varies slightly depending on which "view" setting you are using: Tree or Library. For information on how to customize your "view" setting, see Choosing a Browse menu view setting.

When you expand a particular section of the Browse menu far enough, document links are displayed. You can view a document from an expanded section of the Browse menu by clicking the document link.

For more information on browsing, see Browsing your product content.

Viewing a document after a search

After you perform a search with IntelliConnect, your search results are displayed in the "Search Results" pane. You can scroll through the list of documents, sort the documents according to date or relevance, and move page-by-page through search results that span multiple pages.

You can click a document link from your search results to view it in the "Preview" pane (or double-click the document link to view the document maximized in the "Preview" pane).

TIP! If double-clicking a document link does not open it maximized in the "Preview" pane, check your preference settings. (For more information on setting your document viewing preferences, see Setting your Preferences.)

For more information on searching for documents, see Searching for documents.

Viewing a document from the Document Tray

When you find a document of interest while performing research with IntelliConnect, you can place the document in the Document Tray for later viewing.

To view documents you have added to the Document Tray, click the Document Tray link and click the link of the document you want to view.

For more information on using the Document Tray, see Sending documents to the Document Tray.

Viewing a document from a Research Folder

While you can add documents of interest to the Document Tray on a temporary basis, Research Folders give you the ability to create your own customized folders into which you can add documents of interest on a more permanent basis. With Research Folders, you can view documents during your next research session.

When you want to view documents you have added to a Research Folder, simply click the Research Folders link (or icon) located on the Quick Bar. Click the folder link that contains the document you want to view, and the contents of the selected folder are displayed on your screen. Click the link of the document you want to view.

Viewing a document from History

You can view documents you have recently viewed by using the History feature. IntelliConnect stores the documents you've viewed from a search for a period of 60 days. You can access documents from History by clicking the History link in the navigation bar at the top of your screen.

For more information about viewing documents from History, see Viewing recent documents from History.

Viewing documents from a Related Information link

You can link to related documents from a document you are currently viewing by using the Related Information feature. When you see a Related Information link in a document, it means there is additional information within your subscription relevant to the information you are currently viewing. Simply click the Related Information link to display the list of related documents.

For more information about the Related Information feature, see Using the Related Information feature.
